Still not earning $ by month 6?

You're doing something wrong

I landed my first copywriting client in 6 weeks.

It was a $15 blog post on Fiverr.

Just enough for a large pizza from Dominos.

Sure, it wasn’t much, but it was the greatest feeling ever.

It proved to me this internet money thing is real.

And those $15 blog posts eventually turned into $1,500 projects and $15,000 months.

But, every week, copywriters seek me out for help to try to land their first client or to make their first dollar online.

And then I ask how long they’ve been building their copywriting business for.

And it SHOCKS me to hear answers like “6 months”, “9 months”, “12 months”…

I even heard “2 years” before.

Imagine spending two years building a business without earning a single penny yet!

Do you want my honest opinion when I hear answers like this?

If you’ve been copywriting for at least 6 months and you haven’t earned a dollar yet…

You’re doing something WRONG.

Very wrong.

I would even go as far to say that if you’re not earning by month 3, there’s something off in your business.

Nobody on earth should be building a freelance copywriting business for 6+ months without seeing any earnings yet. This is a red flag that you’re doing something wrong (or not doing the things you’re supposed to be doing).

If you’re still not earning any money at month 3, 6, 9, or even 12…

Here are some of the most common reasons:

  • You don’t practice copy enough (10 mins/day won’t cut it)

  • You aren’t working on your business every day (consistency matters)

  • You treat this like a side hustle, not a real business

  • You aren’t investing enough in your education to be trained up properly (books, courses, coaching)

  • You aren’t outreaching the right way

  • You aren’t sending enough outreach messages

  • You aren’t giving any value upfront when outreaching

  • You’re landing in message request in the DMs (people aren’t seeing your outreaches)

  • You aren’t fluent (or close to fluent) English and trying to land English-speaking clients

  • You’re targeting non-buyers with no money for a copywriter

  • You haven’t specialized into one specific type of copy

  • You don’t have a niche

  • You aren’t willing to get people on a discovery call

And manyyyyy more.

So, if you’re here… And you’ve been at this for 6 months…

Or even 3 months with little progress…

You have to switch what you’re doing.

Remember…

You can’t lose if you focus on these 3 things daily:

  • Write copy

  • Pitch clients

  • Study copy

Do those 3 daily (for at least 2 hours total)…

And you will land a client fast.

But…

Avoid ANY of those 3 and you’ll be spinning your wheels for another 6 months.

P.S. I’m going to be running a paid workshop soon — a live, in-depth 60 minute training followed by an open 30 minute Q&A.

What would you want to learn in the workshop? It could be about developing your copy, focusing on outreach, a deep dive into a specialty like email copy/marketing, sales calls, or anything else related to building a six-figure copywriting business.

Reply to this email with what you’d want to learn in it.
