The only thing that truly matters

Results.

It’s the only thing that actually matters.

I was reminded of this with a new copywriting client.

I helped grow her email list by 10.8% in the past month — all organic.

About 750 new subscribers in one month.

To put it in perspective, before I started working with her, she gained 60 new subscribers in the previous month.

beehiiv is cool because they’ll send you a nice, neat monthly report right to your email inbox.

You know what I did the moment beehiiv sent me that report for my client?

I forwarded it to my client’s email inbox immediately.

Why?

Because the game isn’t over when you sell a client on hiring you.

You have to continuously re-sell them on you.

You’ve gotta remember — becoming a freelance copywriter is not the same as being an employee at a 9 to 5.

You set your own schedule.

You set your own meetings.

You work when you want (and how you want).

And you get to make more money when you want.

But…

You also have to prove a bit more to your clients than a 9 to 5.

You’re not just punching into a job to check boxes as a cog in their machine.

As a freelance copywriter, it’s all about performance.

You’ve gotta get them results, otherwise, you’re out.

So, step one is learning how to write copy that converts.

Step two is convincing someone to hire you in the first place.

Step three is keeping that person as a repeat client — recurring revenue.

Remember, you’re not just a cog in the machine anymore. You’re an investment for them. Just like people invest in stocks, bonds, real estate, and crypto…

Your client is investing in you. And they expect the money they pay you to turn into more money for them.

So, get results.

Then, show them off.

Thankfully, once you learn how to build up your copy and marketing skills, money will flow your way almost automatically.

One of my copywriting students, C, just got his first “big” result for a new copywriting client — a $2M per year fitness coaching business.

He landed them 2 high ticket clients last weekend, generating $12,000 USD in sales.

(which gave him a 10% commission of $1,200 USD — not bad for a few automated emails that’ll continue paying him over and over again).

Guess what happened with C’s client once he saw the result C got for him?

He immediately started responding faster to his messages, was super positive and ecstatic about his emails, and… as a juicy bonus:

He gave C another project to work on — at a 30% commission (a stellar pay raise from 10%).
