In 2019, I went all in on copy.

Quit my job.

Sold everything.

Moved across the world.

And became a full-time writer.

But, it wasn’t my first attempt at making money online.

For years, I struggled to figure out the online business thing.

I tried dropshipping.

And failed.

I tried bookkeeping.

And failed.

I tried web development.

And failed.

I wanted so badly to figure this thing out.

I wanted so badly to work from my laptop.

Travel the world.

Have more free time.

And make my own rules.

I just couldn’t figure it out.

But, then that all changed.

Why?

Because I got desperate.

My life sucked.

Straight up.

I was working a job I hated.

I was promised to work from home and that didn’t pan out.

My work environment was toxic.

And my wife worked beside me there.

And I couldn’t stand it anymore – seeing her spirit being crushed every day.

I couldn’t take it anymore.

So I pulled the plug and went all in on writing.

We booked a one-way flight to Australia that we were going to get on in 6 months.

We had 6 months.

Half a year to figure it all out.

You wanna know the crazy part?

I didn’t know I was going to be a copywriter before we booked that flight.

Here’s what I knew:

• I was going to get my freedom.

• I was going to work online.

• I was going to win.

It was only after we burned that bridge that I found writing.

Want to know why most people who dive into writing struggle for months or years to monetize?

The #1 mistake they make that prevents writers from making a full-time income?

They aren’t all in.

They don’t actually want it bad enough.

They’re sold on the idea that this is a get-rich-quick scheme.

Let me clear that up for you:

It isn’t.

This takes a ton of hard work and dedication.

Sure, it’s one of the easiest ways to make money online.

And it’s one of the fastest ways to do it.

And anyone can learn it.

But, unless you have your “why” figured out, none of that matters.

You can learn the best advice from people who have gone before you.

Learn all the tactics and strategies to become a great copywriter and land paying clients.

But…

If you don’t have a strong why, you’re toast.

You need to know why you’re doing this.

For me, it was all about my wife — to give her a better life.

• To have more time for her.

• To have more time for our future kids.

• To set my own hours.

• To make more money.

• To do work that I loved.

• To be able to travel wherever we wanted.

If you’re comfortable where you are then that’s okay.

You don’t have to change your life.

You don’t have to work from home.

And write words for money.

But… if you truly want to make this work.

And if you’re serious about going from a watcher to a doer, then you need to find your why.

Dig deep.

What do you truly want in life?

Don’t be someone who sits on the sidelines for another 6 months…

While everyone else around you levels up.

That was me.

For years.

I sat on the sidelines while I watched all these people online “make it.”

I gave up the next “business idea” when things got hard.

Until Dec. 2018 when I booked that flight.

I put my back against the wall because I had a burning desire for more.

On that day, when I went to Expedia’s website, entered my credit card details, and booked that flight…

That was the moment I decided other people weren’t going to dictate my life anymore.

And that I was going to take the reins.

Fast-forward 6 months, and my wife and I drive to the Vancouver airport.

We hop on that 16-hour flight.

We land in Sydney, Australia.

Jobless.

And homeless.

But, that’s when our whole world was flipped upside down.

Why?

Because we had hope.

And I had already made thousands with copywriting.

We knew this was it.

Our old life was gone.

And our new life of freedom was here.

So, how about you?
