How to Overcome Writer's Block in 2 Minutes
Every single time
What do you do when you have to write…
But you have nothing to write?
Do you cry?
Have a panic attack?
Run away from your computer while screaming like a crazy person?
Those are some of the core symptoms of writer’s block if left untreated.
A dangerous disease!
So, what do you do?
You’ve gotta write some copy…
Maybe you’re practicing your skills to eventually land clients.
Or, you’re doing a project for a client.
And it’s now time to write.
So, you grab a cup of coffee
Swing open your laptop
Open up Google Docs
Take a sip of that hot and steamy cup of bean juice.
And then…
Nothing.
You’ve got no words.
No ideas.
Just a blank page.
And it’s staring right back at you.
Almost taunting you.
“You’re not a real copywriter, are you?”
“You think you can write copy?”
“You’re a fraud! Imagine your client knew how long you’ve been sitting here with a blank page. He’d fire you immediately!”
It’s crazy what goes through your mind when this happens.
And if you don’t figure out how to overcome writer’s block…
You’ll end up wasting a ton of time
Your copy will end up subpar (if it ever shows up on your page)
And you’ll struggle to land clients (which is kinda necessary to earn $5,000-$10,000+ per month)
But guess what?
This still happens to me to this very day.
And I’m 6 years in (started learning copy January 2019)
The only thing?
It doesn’t take me 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes or more to get the ball rolling now.
I slay the blank page in seconds.
How? I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve.
But there’s ONE tactic that stands above the rest.
#1 tip to overcome writer’s block in 2 minutes
Ready?
You need to know your audience.
Boring! Right?
Whether you think that answer is boring or not is irrelevant. The sooner you solve this, the sooner you solve writer’s block (and the sooner you start filling your bank account with copy dollars).
You HAVE to know who you’re talking to.
You have to know their desires.
Their pain points.
What keeps them up at night.
And the exact challenges they’re going through.
Then?
Solve their problems.
Write content that solves specific problems (like I’m doing in this email today - the struggle of writer’s block as a copywriter).
I had “writer’s block” when I opened today’s Google Doc to write this email.
But I beat it in about 8 seconds
How?
I asked myself, “What are my readers struggling with right now?”
And then I asked myself, “What specific struggle have I not addressed recently that they’re asking about?”
And after flipping through 2-3 ideas top of mind, I picked this one.
Why?
Because it’s a recurring theme that comes up over and over again.
3 tactical tips for you to get that idea
Analyze your client’s audience → Look at email and social media replies.
After that, look at the audience beyond your client. Go to the competition’s social media replies.
After that, look broader. Go to reddit, forums, etc. and analyze the issues they’re facing. Then write emails and other copy that targets those pain points and solves them.
In just two minutes, you can destroy your blank page. You don’t need to do some crazy analysis that takes you 10+ hours. That’s initial research that needs to be done when you first onboard a client.
But, for the one-off email or other copy, just do a quick scan, pick a question, and turn that into your idea for the day.
Done.
Knowing how to overcome writer’s block is one of the 3 crucial steps you need to take to prepare yourself to land copy clients.
There are 2 other key steps you need to take in your copy before you’re ready to land clients.
I’m going to address all three steps in my upcoming Sniper Bomb Workshop on Saturday, January 18, at 1 pm EST.
In the live workshop, you’ll learn the exact step-by-step client-getting system that’s getting ~70% of my copywriting students their first client in one month.
As brand new copywriters…
(Without sending any cold emails/DMs or hopping on aggressive sales calls).
The workshop will be 90 minutes: a 60 minute teaching and 30 minutes of open Q&A to answer all your questions.
The goal?
Get you your first client in 30 days by sending just ONE outreach per day.

P.S. The first 15 people get 50% off.
Then the price is going up.
