- How I time travelled in 2019
They say time travel is impossible.
But I did that in 2019.
All so I could quit my job and make six figures per year online.
…And I’ll show you exactly how I did it in this email.
But before I do…

What do I mean by that?
The most successful people I’ve ever met set goals nonstop.
And they don’t quit until they reach them.
For me, it was 7 years ago exactly: January 2019.
I had just dove into copywriting.
And I came across this bizarre goal-setting technique.
I think it was from Tim Ferriss or something.
The idea is to time travel to the next year.
Like Marty McFly in Back to the Future.
And rather than setting goals for the year…
Imagine you are one year in the future. And you have to write a letter to your past self about what you achieved.
So there I was…
In January 2019. Imagining that I was in the year 2020.
And I was writing to my “past” self in January 2019.
About all the goals I had accomplished in 2019.
You still with me?
Good.
Because I’m about to show you the letter.
Here’s the crazy part:
I accomplished almost every single thing on this list (and more).
Here’s the letter I wrote to myself “looking back” on 2019 before 2019 had even happened:
It is January 31, 2020.
This last year has been amazing. It has been full of travel, career change, and truly entering the entrepreneurship life, owning my own business, and becoming location independent. Also, the first year of marriage that we began feeling fulfilled and satisfied in our marriage and our walk with God has been taken to the next level of satisfaction.
I have grown closer to God and knowing Him in 2019 on a much deeper level, like 2013.
I have grown closer to Jenn, and became more intimate and satisfied, closely knit with her. We spent more quality time together every week.
I spent more time really getting close to my family, despite being gone from the country for half of the year.
Jenn and I travelled to Australia for at least 1 month, and we also went to Thailand - travelling outside of the country for the second half of the year (June-December)
We quit working at [the place we worked at] in late Winter/Early Spring and I began freelancing as an online copywriter.
I made $2000 in the first month and the same month that I got my first client with copywriting, followed by $2500 and then $3500.
We completely stopped all forms of work when we left for Australia in June (for at least 2 months).
We went skydiving in Byron Bay. We went snorkeling. We went scuba diving. We surfed 25 times at least.
We formed amazing life long relationships with people in Australia. We connected with Jenn’s friends and made really good spiritual and business connections.
We journeyed to Thailand and experience living on tropical islands for day trips and for a few days at a time. We went fishing with the locals. The locals took us to the coolest spots on islands, in jungles, and everywhere! We formed good relationships with them and we had amazing experiences there.
We lived in Chiang Mai for a few months where we dove into our online businesses and entered the reality of location independence and freedom.
Once we started working again in August/September, I made $15,000 in 3 months.
In 2019, Our Net Worth went from $-20,000 to +$15,000.
I made my first information product and it brought in $5,000 revenue in December when I launched it.
I connected with a mentor who taught me everything I needed to know about creating and running a successful information product business from anywhere in the world.
Here’s everything that came true:
I began freelance copywriting
Jenn and I quit our jobs we were both working at in Spring 2019
We grew closer to God
Grew closer to each other
More quality time together than ever before
Grew closer with family despite living on the other side of the world for second half of 2019
We travelled to Australia for over a month
We travelled to Thailand after
We stopped all freelance copywriting and other work for 1-2 months while travelling Australia
We went snorkeling and diving in Australia in the Great Barrier Reef
We formed lifelong business connections and friendships with people in Australia
We journeyed to Thailand and lived there for 10+ months in Chiang Mai where we truly lived the digital nomad life of location independence and freedom
We did a vacation to the tropical islands in the south - and we even invited my parents, and 4 of our friends from Canada and they came for a one-month vacation where I stopped 80% of my copy work to just have fun
…and so much more.
In 2019 our whole world was flipped upside down.
In a good way.
The best way.
And in a way I dreamed of for years.
All it took was setting seemingly ridiculous goals.
And taking action on those goals every day.
The thing is…
I didn’t just write down my goals and hope for the best.
I wrote those goals with confidence, as if I had already achieved them. Because in my mind, I already did.
Now it’s your turn.
I don’t care if you think new years resolutions are cliche.
The richest, happiest people I know already have their 2026 goals in place.
