How I made $7,000 from in 3 weeks with email

This is me back in 2019.

With my wifey, Jenn.

I was 26 years old.

We had both just quit our full-time jobs…

Where we were slaving away for 12 hours a day.

Shortly after, we flew halfway around the world from Vancouver, Canada to Australia…

And ended up in Chiang Mai, Thailand (the pic above is inside the small gym in our $500/month condo in the “digital nomad” area of the city).

I was officially a copywriter. A business owner.

And we were finally free.

While I look ecstatic in this picture, the reality is that I was still making less than $1,000/month.

Sure, it covered our cheap rent in Thailand. And food. But not much else.

And there was no way we could ever move back to Canada (or live anywhere else for that matter) if I didn’t figure out how to make GOOD money with copywriting.

The truth is, I was grinding $50-$100 blog posts at the time. Sure I was happy to be out of my 12-hour deadend nightmare back in Canada…

But to be honest, I was:

• Working nonstop

• Undervalued by my clients

• Fearful of what next month would look like

Sure, I was making progress with copywriting…

But I still battled self-doubt and imposter syndrome, wondering if this would all work out (sound familiar?).

There were days when I fantasized about calling our parents up and asking to cover a flight home. What was I really working towards? Was this the freedom I imagined I’d have when I was grinding in my old day job?

But, I kept moving forward.

I started up-skilling. Invested about $2,000 into email courses. And starting tapping into some real direct-response.

And I realized if I was going to make $100,000+ per year with this thing… I needed to do more than just send copy-paste pitches for a cheap content offer.

One day, after sending like 50-100 pitches on job boards and cheap platforms without any results… I decided to try something different in my approach.

Rather than pitch out of desperation like a commoditized service…

I decided to PROVE my expertise as someone worthy of thousands.

I found a guy in a Facebook group for copywriting jobs. He was asking for free help on his website. He was clueless about copy. And wanted someone to audit his copy. I was reluctant.

I thought it’d be a waste of time. I thought I’d be competing against 50+ A-level copywriters 10x better than me.

But, I needed to make a change.

So I looked at his site, and wrote down EVERYTHING I could think of that would improve his copy. His headline, call to action, social proof, layout, benefits, offer, targeting, etc.

Took me about 75 minutes. And I sent it over not thinking much.

Next morning, I wake up to a beautiful Chiang Mai sunrise and grab my nasty morning cup of freeze dried coffee.

I got a message back.

He loved it.

And he wants to get on a call.

What??

Next thing I know, $3,400 hits my PayPal account. This is 30x more than I’d ever charged a client for a single project.

I was blown away. My eyes welled up with tears. I couldn’t hold them back as I screamed from my 2017 Macbook Air in my tiny Chiang Mai apartment.

“Jenn! Jenn!!! He paid. We did it!”

It was 11 pm and we were screaming and jumping for joy like little kids on Christmas morning after receiving their #1 gift on Santa’s list.

I didn’t care that we probably just woke our neighbors up.

That month I went from making less than $1,000/month…

To earning my first $5,000 month.

Next month, I tested it again to see if it was a fluke. I used the same personalized, expertise-approach to outreach on an ecom client doing $60k/month in revenue.

I closed him for a $7,000 welcome email series that took me 3 weeks. I could have done it in 7 days.

And that’s when my “Sniper Bomb” outreach system was officially born.

At month 12, I hit my first $9,000 month.

In year two, I retired my wife when she got pregnant with our first daughter.

And since then, I’ve made over $675,000 with the written word.

We got the freedom we always wanted: more free time, more money, location independence.

And have since helped 750+ new copywriters find their freedom too: learning copy from scratch, with many of them landing clients in just a few weeks and getting to full time in a few months.

If you want to get out of your dead end job…

And step into a new reality where you set the rules. You choose your income. You work when you want and where you want. You travel anytime you want. And have more than enough to provide for you and your family…

Then you need to stop thinking of yourself as a commodity.

And start thinking of yourself as an expert.

Business owners don’t want writers. They want trusted advisors, experts, and support to help them reach their goals. They want more revenue. More time. And more freedom for themselves.

Here’s one last thought to hopefully change the way you approach wealth creation:

When you go out of your way to help people get what they want in life… the automatic side effect is that you will get what you want.

It’s an unshakeable law of the universe.

So go do whatever it takes to help those around you.

And when you’re hyper targeted in who you help when it comes to copywriting, you won’t be able to hold back the Stripe notifications that take over your phone’s display.
