Don't make this mistake when starting outreach

Writing copy doesn’t make you a copywriter.

Getting paid to write copy does.

So if you want to make money as a copywriter, you need to start landing clients asap.

The problem is, 99% of new copywriters are clueless about client acquisition.

They think they need to:

  • Construct some crazy portfolio of spec pieces

  • Send 100+ cold emails and cold DMs per day

  • Learn aggressive sales skills

  • Build a “personal brand”

So when a new copywriter goes into “time to land clients” mode…

They go nuts.

They try 500 different things.

They work nonstop at outreach.

But make very little progress, if any.

After coaching 95+ new copywriters 1:1 (and teaching 750+ students through my copywriting courses) here’s the worst part:

Far too often, the transition from “learning to write copy” to “learning to land clients” is terrible.

Here’s a quick story:

I was coaching a new copywriter one-on-one a few months back.

We’ll call him “D.”

And D was struggling to land clients. He wanted so badly to make copywriting work. And it’s not like he was lazy. He was a hard worker.

So I asked him how his outreach has been going:

“I’ve been cold emailing. like 20-100 people a day for 3 months.”

How’s your progress?

“Not good. No clients. Barely any responses. I don’t know what to do. I just can’t figure out how to land clients.”

I asked, ‘And how often are you writing copy?’

He replied, “What? No, I’m trying to land clients. I’m good on the copy side. Just tell me how to land clients.”

I asked again, ‘I understand. How much time are you spending writing copy every day?’

I could see his face drop.

“Well… I haven’t exactly been writing as much. I’ve just been focused on landing clients.”

I responded, ‘Okay I get that, but how much? 30 mins a day? 10? Are you skipping days?”

He let out a sigh. “I haven’t written copy in 3 months. I’ve just been cold emailing people.”

My eyes widened.

I replied, ‘3 months?! How do you expect people to pay you thousands of dollars every month for something that you don’t even do?”

Honestly, I don’t blame D.

Most people online just tell new copywriters, “Just send more cold emails and cold DMs, bro. It’s just a volume game.”

And then they make no progress. So they send more. And more. And more. With no results. So it starts cutting into their copy practice time.

After making over $675,000 online with copywriting… here’s a little bit of advice:

If you want to even make $5,000/month with copywriting, you kind of have to actually write copy.

Shocker, right?

Thankfully, there’s a way out.

A way to ensure you’re consistently landing clients (even as a beginner)…

And you’re simultaneously sharpening your copy skills.

It’s the “Sniper Bomb” method: my unique warm outreach system that works best in 2025, and will continue to work in 2026 and beyond.

The overall strategy is simple:

  • Learn copy from scratch

  • Learn how to target high-paying prospects

  • Once you find those prospects, engage with them on social media

  • Then, send them a free copy audit (and write a piece of copy made for them)

  • Don’t even make a pitch of any kind until they show interest

Then?

Move onto the next prospect.

Send ONE outreach per day. In about ONE hour per day.

And you’ll get a client faster than anyone you know.

How can I be so confident?

About ~70% of the people who use this exact Sniper Bomb system get a paid client in 30 days.

I haven’t seen a faster client acquisition method online to this day.

Thankfully, D switched up his outreach strategy to the Sniper Bomb.

And within 30 days…

He landed an established restaurant as a copywriting client.

One of the reasons the Sniper Bomb strategy works so well?

You don’t have to decide whether to kill your copy skills or outreach skills. The Sniper Bomb method forces you to write copy every time you outreach. So your skills never shrink back. They always improve.

It ensures your copy skills constantly level up while you land clients.

If you’re still struggling to land your first client…

Or you just don’t know where to begin with outreach…

We launched in November 3 and within 9 days, 100 seats were filled and doors were closed for a month.

And on December 12, in exactly one week, the doors to the Academy re-open to new members.

In November, several students landed their first clients. A few students landed multiple clients. And some even got $1,500-$2,500 contracts.

All by implementing my Sniper Bomb system.

If you want to learn how to land a client in 30 days… and you want the support of a structured community, group coaching calls, writing (and outreach) feedback, and my entire 90-day roadmap… then click here to join the Academy waitlist.
