3 ways to start any piece of copy
Try them today
Are you a new copywriter…
And you’re still struggling to write that FIRST line of copy?
Well… your problem is about to be solved in 30 seconds.
So I sent you an email 2 days ago.
Showed you how to overcome blank page syndrome with a proven hook.
But, people were asking questions about it - how to practically apply it.
So here’s a mini lesson.
Next time you write copy (whether for practice, for a prospect sample, or for a client)…
Do this.
Open your copy with the CALLOUT hook.
There are 3 main ways I do this:
#1: Call out the audience by their identity/group name:
“Are you a new copywriter?”
“Are you a single mom in your 20s?”
“Are you a university student in Alabama?”
“Are you a busy dad working 50+ hours per week?”
“Are you a grandma with joint pain?”
You literally say “Are you a ___________?” and just fill in the blank with the GROUP they identify with.
I did this hook at the beginning of this email.
#2: Call out the problem your audience faces:
“Are you struggling to write that FIRST line of copy?”
“Are you clueless when it comes to landing clients?”
“Are you stuck in a dead end job you HATE?”
“Are you embarrassed at how much weight you’ve put on?”
“Do you have trouble falling asleep at night?”
#3: Call out the desire they have:
“Want to make $10,000/month from your laptop?”
“Want to create a 4-hour workday… from anywhere in the world?”
“Want to convince the boy/girl of your dreams to go on a date with you?”
“Want the body of a 20-year old athlete… even in your 50s?”
“Do you want to sleep better at night?”

I even like to use #1 and add on #2 or #3.
I did a #1 + #2 combo in this email:
#1: Are you a new copywriter…
#2: And you’re still struggling to write that FIRST line of copy?
It’s a simple way to dive into PAS (problem agitate solution).
So you can easily follow this format:
CALLOUT #1 + Problem + Agitate + Solution.
And your copy will practically write itself.
Try it in your next piece of copy.
Here’s that video again: Watch it to see a few more real-life examples of copy that used this hook (and generated millions in revenue $$$).
