Copywriting is like basketball.

How did Michael Jordan become the GOAT?

When everyone was eating pizza, playing video games, and taking it easy...

He was out on the court, shooting hoops. Day in and day out. Jordan simply got more reps in.

The same is true with copywriting.

You may not aspire to take over Gary Halbert's role as the GOAT of copywriting...

But if you want to get good (and turn this into a $10k/mo freedom business), you need to do more:

• It's not enough to write 3 days a week.

• It's not enough to write 10 minutes per day.

• It's not enough to just watch another YouTube video about copywriting.

Those things don't make you a copywriter. And they aren't enough to turn this into a full-time income for you.

YOU NEED MORE REPS.

In January 2019, when I first started as a copy cub...

I was writing 1,000 words per day. Every single day.

In the morning (before my day job), I'd pump out at least 500-1,000.

In the evening (after my day job), I usually did another 500+.

And I didn't take weekends off.

By the time I landed client #1 in 6 weeks... I had already written over 45,000 words of copy.

At the 3 month mark when I had landed dozens of clients and put my 2 weeks notice in at my job... I had written about 100,000 words.

Why did I succeed faster than most new copywriters?

I just put in more reps than most people.

So my question to you is... How many words are you writing daily?

Not sure? Go look at yesterday's Google Doc where you wrote (you DID write yesterday, right?)

Click "Tools" and "Word Count".

Be honest: what's that number say?

If it's under 1,000, you've got work to do. If it's above 1,000, then your goal should be to maintain it daily.

And no, you can't take credit for AI writing 1,000 words for you. AI is powerful. And you should use it in your editing process. But if you want to crush it as a copywriter in 2026 and beyond, you still need to write 1,000+ human words every single day.
